Canadianbox (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the CanadianBox website (the “Site”). This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have — in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies, Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

This Site and its offers are directed at residents of Canada only.

Information we collect

When you sign up for deals on our homepage, we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Date of birth
  • City
  • Gender
  • Province

When you use our Contact form, we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Subject and message you send us

We only collect what’s needed to run the sign-up list and respond to your messages — we don’t ask for payment details, government ID, or other sensitive information through these forms.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide to:

  • Send you the deals, offers, and updates you signed up for
  • Confirm and manage your sign-up (for example, to avoid sending duplicates)
  • Respond to questions or requests sent through the Contact form
  • Keep basic records of consent, as required by Canadian anti-spam law
  • Improve the Site and understand which offers people are interested in

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your date of birth, gender, or province to build individual profiles beyond understanding our audience and tailoring which deals we send.

Marketing emails and CASL

By signing up, you consent to receive commercial electronic messages from us about deals and offers, in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing email we send includes:

  • Our identification information
  • A working unsubscribe mechanism

You can withdraw consent and stop receiving marketing emails at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in any email, or by contacting us (see Contact us, below). We’ll process unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, as required by CASL.

Cookies

Our Site uses cookies to remember your language preference, keep the Site working properly, and — only if you accept them in the cookie banner — to measure traffic and (in future) show relevant advertising. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies when you first visit, and you can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings. Declining non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to sign up for deals or contact us.

Who we share information with

We may share personal information with service providers who help us run the Site, such as:

  • Our email delivery / marketing platform, to send the emails you signed up for
  • Our web hosting provider, to store the Site’s data securely
  • Google Analytics

These providers only receive the information needed to perform their service for us, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CanadianBox, our users, or others.

Where your information is stored

Your information is stored on servers used by our hosting provider. If those servers are located outside Canada, your information may be processed in another country and could be subject to that country’s laws, including lawful access by that country’s authorities.

How long we keep your information

We keep sign-up and contact information for as long as your sign-up is active, or as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, and then for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping and legal purposes. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see Your rights, below).

Your rights

Under PIPEDA (and Law 25, if you’re a Quebec resident), you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Withdraw your consent to marketing emails or to our use of your information (subject to legal or contractual restrictions)
  • Ask us to delete your personal information
  • File a complaint with us, or with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), or, for Quebec residents, the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, if you believe we haven’t handled your information properly

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We’ll respond within 30 days.

Children’s privacy

This Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we change what information we collect or how we use it. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
